The interest rate policy shift at central banks beginning in early 2019 and still underway, is the biggest adjustment since the early 1980's.
Now, instead of trying to keep inflation below 2%, the goal is now to keep it above 2%. This preoccupation for the last 50 years to reduce inflation by raising interest rates has made a reversal; the goal is now to keep inflation alive by lowering rates.
This is happening at same time as politics in the US, depending on the outcome of the US presidential election, could be headed for a big expansion of Federal debt. This is an attempt to keep the economy growing, at risk of causing higher interest rates.
